Who is your Skinspiration?

Role model/Girl Crush…I prefer the term Skinspo , whatever you want to call it Jennifer Aniston is my go to girl to when it comes to Skin Goals.

I love this woman for so many reasons, but mainly because she has somehow managed to age and stay a natural beauty within an industry that is so obsessed with staying young.

Take her role in the movie ‘Cake‘. Here she plays a bitter, unwell woman who hates the life she has made for herself, but somehow JA manages to look amazing whilst make up free. How does she do it? Healthy diet? Plenty of water? Skincare routine? Secret Vampire facials? or just good genes?

No matter how she does it, I love her natural beauty.

Who is your Skinspo? Why do you love them so much and how do you think they achieve their flawless skin?

Looking for an at home Luxury Face Mask? Stop your search!

So whilst I’ve been away I’ve been busy testing luxury skincare so I can report back and give you the lowdown ……I know it’s a terrible job but someone’s got to do it 😉

One of my new favourite products, that deserves a whole post of its own is epiSpa Organic illuminating  Clay Mask

The first thing I noticed was the size, the tub was such a great size for the price and when I opened it, it was full to the top! Now this might seem like a strange thing to comment on but so many times I have bought a luxury item and have disappointed that the package was too small or you didn’t get much product for the price. So before I’ve even used it I was impressed, I guess in my old age I care about value for money as well as quality.
Before I used the product I cleansed my face to make sure it was super clean and I could really reap the benefits that this clay mask boasts.

epiSpa Organic Illuminating Clay Mask has been formulated to effectively exfoliate, brighten and eliminate uneven skin tones, encouraging a bright, firmer, radiant and youthful completion. Lightly fragranced with cucumber and cherry blossom, our rich Organic illuminating Clay Mask will brighten and lift your skin and mood.”
I applied a thin layer of the mask to my face and left for around 15 minutes….. Well until was dry, I think it was 15 mins. Whilst it was drying it had a lovely small, which is always nice 🙂

Once it was dry I washed it off with warm soapy water and patted my face dry. At first my face was a little pink, which always happens when I use a clay mask so I wasn’t worried. Once my face was less pink 🙂 I noticed how bright and glowing my skin was, I’m prone to dull looking skin, so I was so pleased I had some colour back in my cheeks.
I have now used the mask on many occasions ( I’m actually using it now!) and can safely say my skin is smoother, and still just as glowing as the first time I used it. I’m pretty sure people cannot believe I’m 31.5 years old 😜

If your looking for an all round face ask that gives you smooth, glowing, younger looking skin then stop your search I’ve found out it ladies! You can thank me later !
If you fancy giving this a try the wonderful people at epiSpa are kindly giving my readers 10% off, just enter ‘CleanFace10’ at the checkout.

To Peel or not to Peel?

Sorry for the lack of posts guys, I’ve been a little poorly and then moved house to cray cray here at the min…even still I’ve been doing my bit and testing some new treatments.

So  I may be anti botox but I am not anti facial treatments from fancy clinics 🙂

I recently popped into my local skin clinic to annoy them and ask them lots of questions about some of their no needle procedures. I’ve been intrigued for a while so thought, what the hell?!? I’ll go ask and see if any of their treatments could be for me.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and book in, I went for the medical skin peel. I chose this as it claimed to deeply exfoliate and remove the outermost layer of dead skin. This process renews the skin leaving fresher healthier skin behind and is a great way to treat:

  • Fine lines
  • Sun Damage
  • Pigmentation
  • Age spots
  • Large pores
  • Dull skin

chemical peel

Yes I thought the same…… will I end up like Samantha Jones in Sex and City when she has that terrible reaction, but fear not, no pizza face here.

So I’ll talk you through the procedure :

  • The Therapist cleans your face within an inch of its life, I mean full of facial massage and deep clean.
  • Then she pulls a magnifier over my face and starts to squeeze my spots. Spots I didn’t even know I had, whilst other 30ish year olds might be slightly embarrassed by this, I loved it! I found it quit therapeutic.
  • Once I was clean and spot free it was time to apply the good stuff. We started off with a gentle formula as it was my first time, if I react OK I can go stronger on my next turn 🙂
  • As the gel is applied to my face I am given a small hand held fan to hold under my nose as the smell of the gel is so strong it can be unbearable, but the fan works a treat!
  • Once applied the gel is left for around 12 minutes, then removed with another lovely deep clean.

So when I was done I looked in the mirror and all was good! I looked slightly sunburnt which I was told would be the outcome. I was advised to moisturise with a vit c cream for the next few days as failing to do this could result in dry flaky skin.

Like a good girl I did as I was told and used the cream, my skin was noticeably firmer and brighter. I am so happy I had the treatment and took them up on one of their amazing offers of buy 3 get 1 free!

If you’ve been curious about no needle procedures then visit your local skin clinic and ask questions, they will be able to advise you on whats best for you and your skin.

Marketing Magpie

Hey Everyone

Today I wanted to chat about why I buy the products I buy.

I really want to sit here and tell you how much I research a product and make sure it is right for me before I buy, but that would be a complete lie.

I hate to admit it but like many of you out there I fall for the marketing ploy of Celebrity endorsers and fancy packaging.

So why do we fall for this over and over again? ( by we I mean me)

I know exactly why I do it….. I am still to find that wonder product that cleans my pores, hydrates and leaves me with flawless skin.

Does this product even exist? Will my search last forever? I hope it does exist and I find it fairly soon as I am getting pretty annoyed that I’m still searching in my 30’s.

I’ve had an issue with my skin since my teens, as most girls have, but instead of this clearing up in my 20’s it never did. To me, my skin seems dull at times and I’m still prone to breakouts. Don’t even get me started on the dark circles around my eyes!

I still have these problems even though I follow a 3 step skincare routine, twice daily and face pack at least once a week! What does a girl have to do?!?!?!

Maybe this is as good as it gets and I just need to get super amazing at doing my make up and fake flawless skin?

I would love to know if I’m not the only one out there who feels this way, or if you have that wonder product, then tell me NOW!!! 🙂

Soz for the moan, but sometimes a girls gotta get a few things off her chest!

Teenage Dream

Well Hello! I hope you’re all refreshed after the long Bank Holiday Weekend

So today I’m going to talk about T Zone Skincare, yes that brand from the 90’s!

I’ve been working away in Leeds and come across the shop Home Bargains, and what a treasure trove that is! Give it a look if you have never been, you won’t be sorry.

Anyway, whilst I was bedazzled with all the bargains I came across a section of T Zone products, and it took me back to being 14 again. I spent hours moaning to my mum that I had to have these products as it was the only thing that would clear my horrible spotty teenage skin. As most parents, she ignored me and put it down to hormones, I used to hate that she said that, it was her answer to  most of my teenage angst!

So I’m an adult now so I bought all the products they had 🙂 In your face Mum!

Ah I was so excited to get home and try them, especially the strips. I’ve been noticing a bit of blackhead action on my chin and nose so thought this was just the ticket.

The cleansing face wash smells amazing and makes you skin feel so clean, due to the eucalyptus. So I would definitely recommend this product.

I have to say I was a little disappointed by the blackhead scrub and the nose strips. I have been using the products off/on for about 3 months now and I don’t feel like much has changed. I mean my skin feels clean and silky smooth after the scrub but I still have blackheads, albeit small ones. Maybe I haven’t used the product enough? Or maybe its not suited to my skin type?

All in all I was happy to give them a go, they’re super friendly on the budget and I would carry using the scrub just cause its a great exfoliator, I’m not that bothered it didn’t affect my blackheads!

The 14 year old in me was chuffed to find these and I will still keep my eye out for their products and give them a go, why not eh!

What’s your Philosophy?

Well Hello and Welcome to my First Blog Post!

Today I’m going to share my thoughts on a brand I’m quite new to…Philosophy Skincare.

So lets start with their Triple Acid Brightening Peel Pads.

Acid Peel Pads

I bought this from John Lewis for £59.50 which is a bit pricey, works out as £4.96 per pad which isn’t so bad when you break it down.

The main thing that appealed to me with this product was its ease of use. Simply wipe over a clean dry face, easy! I love a simple product, no mixing, waiting 10 mins, washing and then reapplying something else. I like simple and effective, which this is!

Once applied my skin tingled a little and went pink, but that’s to be expected when you wipe with an acid pad! The tingling died down after a few minutes as did the pink face.

Moisturiser can be applied afterwards if needed but as I have oily skin I quite liked it being dry for a change. As I applied over night,(which I think is the best time to apply it gives your skin a chance to breathe and recover), I noticed a difference the next morning. My skin was a little brighter and a lot less oily.

I use this product over a number of weeks, sometimes twice a week (rebel I know!) and I really liked it, gave my skin that lil pick me up it needed. The tingling died down after a few uses as did the pink face.

Thumbs up from me, although I wouldn’t recommend to people with sensitive skin, with it being covered in acid…can’t see that being a good thing for your skin. But if you skin is tough as old boots like mine then crack on I say!

Looking forward to trying some more Philosophy products in the future, recommendations greatly appreciated!
